Nose, bouquet, aroma or fragrance are all terms that describe
how the wine smells to you. Does it remind you of a floral scent
or grassy like a freshly mown lawn? Or it may
come across as fruity, like a cherry, strawberry or melon
smells.
Imagine yourself in nature and see if the scent is something
growing around you, like eucalyptus. Or imagine yourself in the
produce section of your local supermarket. Does the wine make you
feel like you are standing near a bushel of pears or oranges? Or
does it take you to the sweets shop, reminding
you of nuts, chocolate, coffee or butterscotch? Or it may just smell
like grapes!
When trying a new wine, write down whatever associations
you sense to help you remember the scent!

Penfolds Red Winemaking Trial (RWT)
The development of Penfolds Red Winemaking Trial (RWT) reflects extraordinary
progress in viticulture and winemaking. The two disciplines are increasingly
intertwined, as growers and winemakers work together in search of optimum
balance, ripeness and flavour.
RWT draws fruit from 20 to 100 year-old vineyards arcing across the
west and north-west of the Barossa Valley, mostly independently grown.
The best vineyards produce fruit of voluptuous intensity, ripe tannins,
and juicy flavours. The RWT Shiraz has a very seductive style with a
plum/blueberry fruit profile and fine ripe tannins underpinned by savoury
French oak.
Hillside Liquor Store is pleased to offer a vetical of Penfolds RWT:
